THE older generation may recall seeing a giant Mercedes Benz logo atop a huge limestone outcrop when approaching Ipoh from the south.
Put up by the carmaker in appreciation of rich tin miners who made Ipoh a top-selling town for the luxury marque, it was indirectly a symbol of Kinta Valley’s wealth and importance as a leading tin producer in the world.
