Port not keen on sea tunnel

PENANG Port Sdn Bhd is not supportive of the proposal to construct a 6.5km Penang-Butterworth undersea tunnel as it may affect the expansion of the port which is among the oldest in the country,

PPSB chairman Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahya said large ships might not be able to enter the port unless the tunnel was dug at very deep levels, perhaps between 25 to 30 metres below the seabed.
