SPREADING the goodness of milk to the nation, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Berhad launched its first Milk Election recently.
Held in conjunction with the fourth World Milk Day, the election invites Malaysians to vote for their favourite limited-edition milk flavours — Red Bean, Sweet Corn, Moo Melon or Caramel Toffee.
Dutch Lady Malaysia managing director Bas van den Berg said the milk election was a fresh way to highlight the importance of drinking milk.
“On average, Malaysians consume about 30 liters of milk a year, which is 70% less than those drinking milk in other parts of the world,” he said.
“We hope to encourage the consumption of milk as it contains essential nutrients for healthy growth,” he said.
Invited guests and celebrities also made their appearance at the launch to campaign for their favourite milk flavours.
Actress and celebrity Ziana Zain chose Dutch Lady Red Bean for it reminded her of a childhood treat — red bean ice-cream.
Meanwhile, singer Faizal Tahir stood by his choice — the Dutch Lady Sweet Corn — which brought back memories of his trips back to his hometown.
“I remember stopping by the roadside stall to enjoy some delicious sweet corn, which made my journey more pleasant,” he said.
For supermodel Amber Chia, Dutch Lady Moo Melon was the choice for her busy lifestyle as it contained antioxidants to give her a healthy complexion.
National footballers, twins Mohd Aidil Zafuan Abdul Razak and Mohd Zaquan Adha Abdul Razak led the upbeat Dutch Lady Caramel Toffee party, saying the sweet sticky caramel gave them a much needed energy boost.
The enthusiastic flavour parties and their respective mascots will continue to campaign for votes and hold sampling activities for the duration of the Milk Election until May 28.
The winning milk flavour will be announced on May 29, and made available in all major stores.
Upon reaching the target of 200,000 “Likes” on Facebook, Dutch Lady Malaysia will give away 20,000 milk packs to charity.
