WALK for health and charity by participating in Kordel’s Charity Walk which is taking place at Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur on June 12.

The annual charity drive, held in partnership with the Arthritis Foundation Malaysia (AFM), is to help Malaysians who suffer from arthritis.

Funds raise will go towards support the AFM in initiating public health efforts to improve the living quality of people with arthritis, particularly to help underprivileged arthritis patients undergo joint replacement treatment.

AFM president Dr Amir Azlan Zain: “AFM will use proceeds collected strictly to initiate joint replacement procedures for needy arthritis patients. The foundation will buy these joints direct from the suppliers and hand them over to the relevant hospitals.”

Dr Amir said to-date, over 60 patients have benefited from the fund.

He said with the support from Kordel’s and the other sponsors of the initiative, under-privileged Malaysians with advanced cases of arthiritis would be able to afford treatment.

“Arthritis is becoming one of the main diseases among Malaysians and the number of people suffering from this disease keeps increasing every year. Excessive body weight, increasing age, major injuries to joints, muscle and bones, highly active lifestyle, occupational hazards and genetics are some of the causing factors.

“Malaysians should look after their joints and walking is an excellent form of exercise for almost anyone, including those who suffer from arthritis,” Dr Amir added.

In conjunction with the Charity Walk, Kordel’s has also introduced a special charity pack comprising Chondroitin MSM Plus Minerals with its ever-popular Glucosamine 550. RM1 from every purchase of this special charity pack will be donated to the foundation.

All participants will each receive a goodie bag worth over RM100. There will also be over 300 lucky draw prizes worth up to RM15,000.
