SARAWAK’S 10th election has come and gone. Now, all eyes will be on the general election, which was earlier speculated to be held as early as September if Barisan Nasional did well in last Saturday’s polls.
However, an early general election seems unlikely as Barisan has lost 16 seats to Pakatan Rakyat and an independent and, more importantly, garnered fewer popular votes compared to the 2006 state election.
