Road completion brings cheer to villagers

KUNAK: The opening of the 4km Sapang-Pangi Road has brought cheer to about 5,000 people of five villages here.

The villagers, many of them farmers and fishermen, are happy that the road links Kampung Hampilan, Kampung Kasnuri, Kampung Pangi Tengah, Kampung Pangi Hujung and Kampung Telaga Tujuh.

The road, which cost about RM4mil to build, was financed by the Rural and Regional Development Ministry and was officially opened by Kunak state assemblyman Datuk Nilwan Kabang.

In his speech, Nilwan said that previously the villagers had to use a dusty, gravel road when travelling in the area.

He said that three other roads had also been completed in Kunak.

The roads are Jalan Tun Fuad (3km), Jalan Pangkalan Madai (2.5km) and Jalan Kampung Selamat (2km).

He said the state goevrnment will also resurfaced three other raods on the area.

The roads are Jalan Skim Cocos- Sapang (8km), Jalan Lormalong-Mostyn (2km) and Jalan Dasar Baru-Ulu Madai (2km). - Bernama
