Over 200 stylists attend ‘Wella Trend Vision Look and Learn’ seminar

HAIR and fashion took centrestage at the recent Wella Trend Vision 2011 Look and Learn seminar, where over 200 stylists turned up at the Concorde Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The event saw the unveiling of four new trends for Wella this year — Glamazon, Lumina, Polaris and Passionista.

Bringing their own interpretations of the trends to present an all-new, fresh look for the season was the hairstyling team from Toni and Guy International.

Leading the team for the event was Toni and Guy international art director Bill Watson.

“This year, it’s all about the different textures and colours,” he said.

The Passionista trend for example, was about showcasing a strong yet sensual trend with hues of red and creating volume while still maintaining a soft, contemporary atmostphere of seduction.

Meanwhile, the Lumina range had a more futuristic approach, with metallic blonde tones and geometric cuts.

“The whole collection can be adapted to any hair texture, so we’re taking it to a more commercial level to suit our clients needs.

“We thank Wella Professionals for collaborating with us for this year’s Trend Vision,” he added.

On what inspires the team, Watson said music and fashion trends were great influences in coming up with different hairstyles to suit the overall look.

Models did the catwalk, dressed and styled according to the four trends of the show.

The Glamazon trend saw bright animal prints, coupled with wild Amazon-inspired hair, while the Polaris trend had aerodynamic, precise cuts combined with contrasting colours of black, white and grey.

During the seminar, Watson along with Toni and Guy Singapore and Malaysia international director David Mercer and Heeren Salon Singapore technical art director Jackie Ng also demonstrated some techniques on models, while offering hairstyling tips and advice.

Pacific Cosmetics (M) Sdn Bhd product manager Grace Lim said the event was a great opportunity for hairstylists and that they hope to bring it to Malaysia more often.

“We hope that the Trend Vision will be able to help local hairstylists gain inspiration and help express their creativity to satisfy the ever-changing need of clients.”
