Tesco Store Malaysia Sdn Bhd’s 8-Days Grabbit Bonus contest, held in conjunction with Chinese New Year, received close to 400,000 entries.
“The response from our customers was tremendous. We are thrilled by their enthusiasm,” said Tesco Malaysia marketing director Neil Adams at the prize presentation ceremony held at Tesco headquarters.
“The near 400,000 entries received during the eight-day contest period is one of the highest of all the competitions we had held,” he said.
The Grabbit Bonus contest offered shoppers opportunities to win cash of up to RM88,888.
Customers who spent more than RM88 during the contest period had to submit an entry form together with their receipt as proof-of-purchase.
“This is one of the ways we reward our loyal customers for their strong support in making Tesco their favourite hypermarket,” said Adams.
Grand prize winner Khairuni Sabil, 47, was overjoyed.
She did not expect her usual shopping trip to Tesco in Mutiara Damansara on Feb 3 to make her RM88,888 richer.
“I was rushing that day because my husband was waiting for me outside and I did not expect to win when I submitted my entry form,” she said.
“With this prize I will do more of my shopping at Tesco. Besides, it is just a five-minute walk from my house,” she added.
Eight other Tesco customers were announced as daily winners and walked away with RM8,888 each.
After the prize presentation, Adams presented RM5,000 raised from the auction of a gold rabbit during the first day of the contest to Rumah Nur Salam as part of its corporate social responsibility.
Rumah Nur Salam centre manager Ananti Rajasingam said the fund would be used to run an upcoming motivational camp for the children.
“I am glad Tesco chose us as their recipient,” said Ananti.
