Council: It is illegal to block the access of firemen

IT IS illegal to prevent or block the access of Fire and Rescue Services on public roads. Their access to the burning house should be unimpeded, said Fire Prevention Council Malaysia (Fipcom) chairman Datuk Soh Chai Hock.

“Furthermore, by-law 140 of the Uniform Building By-Laws 1984 provides for the accessibility of the fire brigade to the place of risk or fire. Obstructing access even with a security boom gate goes against this provision,” Soh added.
