RESIDENTS of 46 houses in Taman Saga 4, Klang, have been paying higher water tariff since they moved in three years ago.

MIC National Youth information chief S. Subramaniam said he received complaints from the residents in October last year.

“They have no water supply since they moved in three years ago because the developers did not submit plans for the water piping system,” he told reporters at the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) office on Tuesday.

Subramaniam said the residents had to get their supply from pipes connected by the contractor and pay a rate of RM2.20 per cubic metre instead of RM0.58 for households.

He said Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) did not connect the water supply in December last year because the developer did not settle the payment.

“We requested Span to interfere and help the residents.

Syabas has said that they will reply within a week on their decision. We hope that this will be resolved soon,” he said.
