Hawkers at markets told not to push responsibility solely to council


MARKET committees must also help to look after their trading areas instead of pushing the responsibilities to the council.

“These hawkers should know the conditions of their places better than the council. Besides, it is impossible for our enforcement officers to inspect every inch of the markets in the city,” Miri Mayor Lawrence Lai said when presenting certificates and prize money to winners of the Market Cleanliness competition.
