LUCKY Penang Starwalkers can take pride in walking home in style — thanks to the latest range of Pallas canvas shoes that will be offered as prizes.
Besides shoes, Pallas is also contributing 2,000 walkers' T-shirts as well as official and committee members' apparel worth a total of RM20,000 for the walk on Dec 12.
While continuing with its tradition of being one of the main sponsors for the state's premier sporting event, the company also plans to send about 20 employees to the walk.
Pallas brand executive Lee Eng Pheng said they were proud to have been sponsoring the walk for 12 consecutive years.
"We will also have two booths for games and sales to promote our latest range of shoes and activities with exciting prizes to be won," she said after presenting a mock cheque and the products to The Star's accounts executive Leong Shir Mein at the Pallas office in Beach Street on Thursday.
Another main sponsor — Guiness Anchor Berhad — is also supporting the walk with contributions of 1,500 walkers' T-shirts and 300 cartons of Malta drinks worth a total of RM20,000.
Its sales promotion manager Liew Kok Leong said malta drink was a non-alcoholic malt beverage high in Vitamin B1, B3 and B6 that was ideal for people with an active lifestyle.
He said Penang Starwalk was arguably the biggest event in the state promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
"Malta, a healthy drink full of malt goodness, is a natural fit with Penang Starwalk and we are very excited to be part of this year's event again," he said after presenting a mock cheque and Malta drinks to The Star's accounts executive Timothy Lim at the Hong Bee Gallery in Sungai Pinang on Thursday.
The company has been sponsoring the walk since 2008.
Meanwhile, City Bayview Hotel Georgetown and its sister property Bayview Beach Resort in Batu Ferringhi have joined the growing list of hotels in sponsoring room stays and meal vouchers for the event.
And they are not only contributing 21 complimentary vouchers worth RM7,000 but also sending 37 employees from the two hotels to the walk.
City Bayview Georgetown hotel manager Lawrence Perera said the walk would help enhance the two hotels' teamwork and provide a relaxing environment for the staff to mingle with one another.
"The Star has been our partner for many years and we have supported each other for a long time," he said after presenting the vouchers and entry forms to The Star's advertisement executive Thomas Tan on Thursday.
Of the eight vouchers from City Bayview Georgetown, three are for a buffet dinner for two at Revolving Restaurant, four for a two day/one night stay inclusive of breakfast for two in a Superior Room and one for a two day/one night stay inclusive of breakfast for two in a Deluxe Room.
As for the 13 vouchers from Bayview Beach Resort, 10 are for a Sunday Buffet Lunch at La Veranda, one for a two day/one night stay inclusive of breakfast for two in Superior Hillview Room, one for a two day/one night stay inclusive of breakfast for two in Deluxe Side Seaview Room and one for a two day/one night stay inclusive of breakfast for four in Family Hillview Suite.
