Continue with the struggle, says retiring police chief

MUKAH police chief DSP Sapri Jemahari, 58, will hang up his spurs today after 35 years, five months and 28 days in the force.

Prior to joining the Royal Malaysian Police in 1975, he was with the then Rajang Security Commission (Rascom) in Sibu for a year.

After completing his police training, Sapri was posted to Sibu and Kanowit before being transferred to his hometown of Mukah in 2004.

Acting Mukah police chief ASP Jamil Othman described Sapri as quiet and friendly but a strict person.

“He is also approachable, easy to talk to and will listen to suggestions,” he said at the Malam Jasamu Dikenang dinner on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, at another dinner gathering at the Mukah Police Contingent yesterday, Sapri urged his colleagues to continue with the struggle and good work they had been doing in maintaining law and order in the division.

“I also thank the people from the press for their cooperation,” said Sapri in between sobs.
