MALAYSIA’S Phillipa Yoong won a silver and bronze medal in the Asian Waterski championships in Jakarta, Indonesia recently.

Phillipa won the silver in the women’s overall category which is a combination of the slalom, jump and tricks. The bronze came from the women’s slalom event.

Phillipa, a mother of two, said she never expected to win a medal in the women’s overall category.

“I had a chance to fight for a podium place in slalom. It is especially gratifying for me coming back to be near my prime when I was 18 after 13 years and two daughters,’’ said Phillipa.

Besides Phillipa, Malaysia had three representatives in the championships. The trio of Hanis Azemi, Hadi Irfan Rahaizah and Aaliyah Yoong Hanifah did not win any medals but made their presence felt in their respective events.
