THE most important step for Sarawak’s famous “kek lapis” entrepreneurs to make it to the international market is to get rid of their “plastic and staple” packaging, said SME Corporation Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Hafsah Hashim.
“Good quality and appealing packaging, label and branding are important factors for consumers. Small and medium enterprise (SMEs) especially in the food industry need to keep to this latest trend in order to be sustainable,” she said.
