20 boats inspected during Ops Hulubalang

KUALA TERENGGANU: Eight local fishing boats were detained in the Fisheries Department’s six-day ‘Ops Hulubalang’ operation aimed at protecting the country’s marine resources. Fisheries Department director (Resources Protection) Thalathiah Saidin said the eight boats were out of 20 fishing boats inspected during the operation.

Thalathiah said five boats were found to have employed foreign workers while the other three were caught carrying out fishing actvities less than 30 nautical miles from the shore and also did not have valid licences when checked.
