Display of lights in various shapes add to the Raya cheerer

SINCE Monday, all roads and lanes at Malay kampungs in Sibu have been decorated with sparkling lights and kerosene lamps for the coming Hari Raya celebration.

A towering display of lights in the shape of a fan in Kampung Datuk Road makes the heads of motorists turn when they pass by at night. The display is 8.5m tall and made up of 11 bamboo poles supported by steel wires. Beside it are two smaller displays in the shape of a ketupat.
