FASTING on board a ship in the open sea has been a unique and unforgettable experience for Jazil Abdullah, the quartermaster of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency’s (MMEA) KM Bijak.

“Puasa here is not like back in the kampung. There is no kuih muih available in the open sea,” the 20-year-old told StarMetro during a buka puasa dinner with media representatives on board the ship off Muara Tebas near Kuching recently.
