AN average of 43 rats, some as big as a kitten, have been exterminated daily in the last eight months as the Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) strives to keep the island clean and free from leptospirosis or rat urine disease.
In the exercises, MPPP also found the Medan Angsana in Farlim to be the worst infested area in Penang, followed by Rifle Range in Air Itam and the Little India enclave, located in the heart of the city centre.
