BESUT: The Terengganu government will build a network of dual-carriageway linking Kemaman to Besut to ease the traffic congestion in the state especially during festive seasons, said Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said.
He said the project was being carried out in stages beginning early last year.
The first sector began from Jerteh to Bukit Yong on the border with Kelantan, Sungai Tong-Bukit Gemuruh stretch in Kuala Trengganu, Kuala Terengganu-Ajil-Marang portion and Kemasek to Kerteh in Kemaman.
“If the economy permits, construction of the dual-lane road will continue in stages,” he said after officiating a RM3mil food court in Jerteh.
Ahmad reminded all heads of departments in the state to make wise decisions when implementing any development project to satisfy all parties.
On the unfinished RM70mil Jerteh Souq project in Jerteh, he said it would be resumed by a new contractor appointed two months ago. – Bernama
