A TWO-day awareness programme on the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OSCC) at Miri Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit was started yesterday for the hospital’s staff and its healthcare practitioners.

Dr Priscilla Joseph, the medical officer in charge of OSCC, said the course was held to expose them to the management of OSCC and efficiently handle cases involving women and children.

She said the Miri OSCC was established in 1996 and another programme by Sarawak OSCC would be held soon for the public.

Miri Hospital director Dr Faizul Mansoor opened the programme which was attended by some 80 employees of the hospital.

Among the topics covered were Legal and Police Role in Handling Child Abuse and Marriage Violence Cases, Role and Function of Gynaecologists in Handling Rape Cases and Legal Clauses and Punishment for OSCC Cases in Miri Judicial Department.
