GYM instructor Mohd Rashid Mohd Abu flexed his muscles all the way to the top by clinching two titles in a bodybuilding contest held in Kulai Jaya recently.

The 30-year-old Kota Tinggi muscleman was crowned ‘Champions of champions’ and winner of the bantamweight category in the Mr IOI-Johor 2010 competition.

Mohd Rashid, who took part for the first time, beat 55 other bodybuilders in the event.

Mohd Rashid said he never expected to beat most of the seasoned contestants and come out tops in the ninth edition of the competition jointly organised by the Johor Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Association (JBWA) and IOI Group.

Mohd Rashid said he was looking forward to represent Johor at the upcoming Mr Malaysia 2010 contest in Penang from July 17 to 18.

Shahrul Anuar Baharom, 36, was placed second and Mohd Masum Mohd Ali, 27, took the third spot.

Yaakob Ali, 42, was crowned winner in the Welter category 75kg and above, while Abdul Rashid Ahmad, 33, and K. Ragunaihan, 24, took the second and third spots respectively.

Champions from all categories walked away with RM700 cash, IOI Mall cash voucher worth RM100 and a medal. The first-runners up took home RM500 cash, RM100 cash voucher and a medal while second-runners up received RM300, RM100 cash voucher and a medal.

IOI Mall Bandar Putra Kulai operations executive Noorain Jaafar said the good response from the competitors as well as spectators had prompted the organisers to hold the same event next year.
