ARGENTINE guitarist Sebastian Pompilio and British guitarist Justin Hyer will perform a selection of solo and duo works to raise funds for restoration works of the Seremban Visitation Church.
The duo will be performing works by Spanish and Latin American composers like Rodrigo, Villa-Lobos, Piazzolla, Pereira, Gnattali and Sanchez.
The two-hour concert will be held on July 12 at the Allson Klana Resorts, Seremban, from 7.45pm onwards.
Pompilio is one of Argentina’s new generation of virtuoso performers.
He has studied with leading figures in the classical guitar world such as Eduardo Isaac, Walter Heinze, Omar Cyrulnik, Aniello Desiderio, Roland Dyens and Tilman Hoppstock.
He has performed in solo recitals and alongside orchestras in concerts across Latin America and Europe.
Meanwhile, Hyer, born in 1984, is one of England’s most promising classical guitarists and has lived in South America for some years where he studied with Eduardo Isaac and Alfredo Escande.
He is well-versed in the interpretation of South American repertoire. He has toured extensively across Latin America and Britain.
One such performance highlight was in 2007 when he represented England at the 2nd Annual Guitar Festival “Homage to Augustin Barrios” which saw him play a series of concerts across Paraguay.
Event co-ordinator Jerome Selva Retnam said the duo has agreed to render their services for free and all proceeds from the sale of tickets would go towards the church restoration fund.
The Seremban Gregorian Choir will accompany Pampilio and Hyer.
“We are trying to get the two of them to be at the morning mass and then for a autograph session at the canteen after mass to push the final sales of the tickets,’’ added Selva Retnam.
