THE FIFA World Cup fever has reached Saddad Court, a food court and seafood restaurant at Jalan Kulas in Kuching where operation hours will be extended till the wee hours of the morning so that football fans can watch live matches on the big screen.

A special menu mainly comprising local food has been prepared for patrons while they watch their favourite teams play, said Saddad Court marketing/operation consultant Zarith Sophia Musadad.

“Our normal operations hours are from 9am to 1am but during FIFA World Cup season, we’ll be basically operating almost round the clock,” she told reporters Saturday night.

The food court and restaurant will be offering popular local dishes such as ayam penyek, salad chicken rice, Sarawak laksa, mee Jawa, mee kolok, chicken rice and beef/chicken/fish porriage, while finger food such as keropok lekor, ayam rempah, wedges and french fries will also be available. The prices are between RM3 and RM6.

“Our regular seafood menu will also be available during the football season,” said Zarith.

Among others, she said dishes like fried terubok, hot and sour fish, midin belacan, sea cucumber soup, butter prawn, bubur pedas Sarawak, umai, braised home-made beancurd with seafood and black pepper king prawn were very popular among patrons.

Zarith said recently they had just started an entertainment concept called Saddad Fusion that would be available every Saturday night.

“Young talents or aspiring musicians are most welcome to perform and entertain customers on stage,” she said adding that no charges would be imposed.

Zarith said the concept meant to provide a proper venue for youths to showcase their talent and support local entertainment scene.

Saddad Court provides free Wi-Fi and has a capacity to sit 800 people.
