Just a whimper remains in the art of making bamboo fireworks

MALACCA: The picturesque village of Kampung Tangga Batu and its surroundings is home to makers of traditional bamboo fireworks and the craft is fast dying.

While many would have heard about the ‘meriam buluh’ or bamboo cannon, the traditional firecracker played by the Malays during Hari Raya festivities, there is a lesser known cousin called the “bunga api buluh” or the bamboo fireworks.
