THE Oral Health Division of Sarawak in collaboration with the Malaysian Dental Association and GlazoSmithKline Sdn Bhd will hold the 1M Oral Health Awareness Campaign at Spring Shopping Mall in Kuching on May 9.
The campaign from 11am to 9pm aims to create awareness on the importance of self or home care and the benefits of regular dental visits for the prevention of disease.
It also aims to enhance collaboration between the dental profession and industry with the state to educate and empower communities to be responsible in healthcare.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai will launch the campaign.
A press statement issued by the State Health Department’s Oral Health deputy director and dental health specialist Dr Ling Kwok Sung said that various activities had been planned including free oral health screening, oral health exhibitions and contests such as The Best Smile.
Those young age groups were not forgotten as there would be puppet shows in Bahasa Malaysia, English and Mandarin, he added.
Dr Ling urged the public to take the opportunity to have free oral health screening.
“Every aspect of your health matters. Let us enable you to have a better smile for tomorrow and teeth all your life,” he added.
