A NEW Internet portal in Mandarin called Come 2 Sibu (www.come2sibu.com) was launched by Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King.
It is a project undertaken by JCI Mandarin Sibu to promote the town as a tourist destination and provide basic information about Sibu.
“It is also a platform for people to interact and share ideas,” said JCI Mandarin Sibu president Joan Ngu during its launch in Sibu.
Tiong congratulated JCI Mandarin Sibu for taking the initiative to host the portal which will benefit local people and visitors.
Meanwhile, three members of Art of Living Sarawak (ALS) called on SMC health inspector Chua Hock Siong yesterday to plan a joint campaign to promote public awareness on environmental protection.
ALS spokeswoman Ngu Ngiik King said the symbolic gesture of releasing 500 litres of garbage enzyme into the river to purify the water would be held on May 1 at Sungai Merah Heritage Walk.
She said the campaign was the sixth in a year.
Ngu appealed to the public to participate in the campaign.
