THE hustle and bustle at Little India in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, reached peak level yesterday as Tamils shopped for the items needed to celebrate Ponggal today.
The stretch along Jalan Tun Sambanthan was teeming with people buying clay pots. milk, sugarcane, turmeric plants, fruits, flowers and ingredients needed to make the milk rice called Chakkarai Ponggal and which is a vital element in the celebration of the harvest festival.
