THE fortnightly Rising Star column has featured 26 budding athletes throughout 2009. Young triathlete Mohd Zhairen Manan Zulkarnain from the Bandar Penawar Sports School (BPSS) was featured in the first article of the season on Jan 2.
Over the past 12 months, only three athletes were from the Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS). The trio were karate exponent K. Syakilla Salni and two junior hurdlers, Mohamed Baihaqi Razlan and Sharifah Aqilah Balqis Syed Othman, who were under the charge of former Olympian Ishtiaq Mobarak.
