KUCHING: The indigenous communities in Baram, northern Sarawak, will petition the federal and state governments to drop a proposal to build a 1,000MW hydroelectric dam in Baram.
Johannes Luhat, who represents villagers in Long San, said a campaign to collect signatures from the Kenyah, Kayan, Kelabit, Saben and Penan communities to protest against the proposed project was underway.
