SHOPPERS at Mydin hypermarket in Subang Jaya were treated to free bubur lambuk last weekend.
The porridge, which was packed in a container, were distributed to everyone who walked into the store after 2pm.
“Initially we expected to distribute the bubur lambuk from 2pm to 5pm but all of it were gone within an hour.
“We cooked 20 big pots and nine were distributed to our customers here,” said Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad managing director Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin.
The project was a joint effort between Nestle, Mydin and Shell Gas (LPG).
The remaining 11 pots were later distributed to mosques and surau in the area.
“Besides delivering our corporate social responsibility during this blessed month, we also hope to instill the ukhwah spirit (togetherness) among our shoppers,” Ameer Ali said.
Later, Mydin also hosted a buka puasa for 300 children from four welfare homes namely Rumah Amal Limpahan Kasih in Puchong, Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PDK) Selayang, Rumah Baitul Marhabah and Rumah Amal Sentuhan Budi Kuala Lumpur.
