SIBU: A study will start this month to identify roads in Sabah and Sarawak which can withstand heavier loads, as the Transport Ministry is looking at extending the 53-tonne limit for six-axle lorries, now applicable only in the peninsula.
Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chew said that lorry operators in Sabah and Sarawak could only carry a maximum weight of 38 tonnes.
