An eye-opening walkabout

FORTY representatives from a development body comprising Surveyors, Planners, Engineers, Architects and Developers (SPEAD), and Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) department heads and councillors had an ‘eye-opening’ experience recently as they embarked on a blindfolded, wheelchair-bound walkabout around the inner city of George Town.

The group, led by two wheelchair-bound United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) consultants, participated in Going Places Penang, an awareness activity and component programme of UNDP-Upen (State Economic Planning Unit) Accessible Public Transport Project.
