Sarawak seeks RM2b for flood bypass channel


KUCHING: Sarawak is requesting RM2bil from the Federal Government to complete the Flood Bypass Channel Project to free Kuching city of floods.

Urban Development and Tourism Minister Datuk Michael Manyin said recently that the first phase of the project included the construction of an 8km channel which would be 250m wide and 7m deep, a gated barrage, a tidal gate, two bridges, an access road, a bund and a rock-filled causeway.
