Safe home campaign
JOHOREANS leaving their home during the school holidays until June 14 can take part in the Safe Home Campaign. The campaign, which was started three years ago, has been successful with the participation of thousands of residents statewide. They are encouraged to fill a form to inform the police to visit and patrol around their homes when they are not around. This is a community service by the police, the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), Danga Bay and The Star. The forms are available at all police stations and district police headquarters in Johor, the IRDA office in Danga Bay, Danga City Mall and The Star’s Johor Bureau at Jalan Maju. THERE will be temporary traffic disruption for 12 months due to commencement of construction work on Jalan Tebrau located close to the Pandan Interchange and the North South Expressway of the Eastern Dispersal Link Expressway. Expo on Pudu Jail
THE Malacca Museums Corpo-rations (PERZIM) and the Malay-sian Prison Department will be setting up an exhibition entitled “Last Voices of Pudu Jail” at the Museum DMDI until July 17. For details, call 06- 282 6528.
THE Iskandar Malaysia Contemporary Art Show 2009 is being held at level 4 of Danga City Mall, Jalan Tun Razak, Johor Baru. The exhibition is open daily from 10am to 10pm until June 14. More than 1,000 art pieces by 100 artists are on display. Admission is free.
LEE Wushu Arts Theatre presents an experimental wushu theatre show from June 12 until June 14. Focus on philanthropists
A MONTH long exhibition entitled “The Legacy of Tan Kah Kee and Lee Kong Chian will be held at Sutera Mall Johor Baru from June 20. Tan Kah Kee and Lee Kong Chian were well known philanthropists in Malaysia, Singapore and China and have contributed to the growth of schools during the early development of Malaysia.
