JOHOR BARU: The Lee Wushu Arts Theatre will present Buffer Zone of Force, a new work of art, here next month.
The troupe, known for its fusion of martial arts and stage dance, will give the audience a new experience.
Wushu director Lee Swee Song said the play would emphasise the power of wushu and the beauty of modern dance.
He said the play would be different from previous ones.
“We have invited several professional dancers, including one from Shanghai, to join us.
“The elements of various cultural backgrounds will be blended to deliver a fresh experience,’’ said the 29-year-old Lee.
The theatre group was established in 1998 by Lee, who wanted to inject new life into Chinese martial arts while preserving its tradition.
He found that the body language in wushu was a perfect match with modern dance.
After spending years planning and practising with his enthusiastic gang of wushu exponents, the first play, Wushu and Dance, was born in 2001.
Sine then, the group has come up with new plays every two years including Wushu and Dance United, The King’s Sword and Qi.
Buffer Zone of Force will be performed at the Lee Wushu Arts Workshop in Taman Nusa Bestari here at 8pm from June 12 to 14.
Tickets are priced at RM15 and available at the workshop and Popular Book Stores in Plaza Pelangi, City Square, Skudai Parade and Harris-Aeon Tebrau City.
