This weekend Malaysians will be witnessing some of the best waterskiers from Asia compete in the Putrajaya Waterski and Wakeboard Junior Cup.
Besides that, Thailand’s Padiwat “Bomb” Jaemjan and Chile’s Larry Gissler will be on site conducting coaching and demonstration workshops for young Malaysians at Putrajaya.
Malaysia Water Ski Federation honorary secretary Phillipa Yoong said both Padiwat and Larry were well-known in the sport and it would be good for the juniors to pick up tricks and learn from the duo during their visit to Malaysia.
There are 55 confirmed entries from Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
The participants will be competing in 12 categories:
·Mini Slalom - Girls (15 and under);
·Mini Slalom - Boys (18 and under);
·Mini Slalom - Novice Women (above 18);
·Mini Slalom-Novice Men (above 18);
·Wakeboard -Women Inter-mediate;
·Wakeboard - Men Interme-diate;
·Wakeboard - Women Novice;
·Wakeboard - Men Novice;
·Mini Slalom-Girls (10 and under);
·Mini Slalom-Boys (10 and under);
·Slalom - Men Open; and
·Wakeboard - Men Open
Members of the public visiting the lakeside area in Precinct 6 can join in the fun with banana boat rides, radio-controlled model boats and planes, performances by local artistes and, to keep the children occupied, the inflatable “iceberg”.
