AS we entered Michael­angelo’s in the Pavilion, the crisp white tablecloth, soft lighting and wall-to-wall images of artworks by some of the best Renaissance painters from Italy combined with the heady scent of garlic and onion lingering in the air conjured images that I was in a bustling restaurant in Rome.
