Glad Tidings Assembly of God Petaling Jaya (GTPJ) is presenting a heartfelt message of hope and redemption through a passionate and moving drama called “Beyond Tears” to commemorate Good Friday and Easter this year.
The drama will raise its curtains with a close-up on 21-year-old Kevin Liew, whose life comes to an abrupt halt when he meets with a terrible accident.
His parents are left to face many unexpected decisions; and as the life of their only child unfolds before them, they realise that the decisions they make will not only affect them but also impact the lives of others.
In line with this, GTPJ and its community outreach arm, Life Community Services (LCS), are joining hands with the National Transplant Resource Centre (NTRC) to hold an organ donation campaign to encourage people of every age, gender and ethnicity to register as an organ donor.
According to the NTRC, as of March 31 this year, more than 10,000 patients are on the national waiting list for kidney, heart, liver and lung transplants. Despite this, only 1,394 transplantations have been recorded.
“There is a great discrepancy between the intense need of patients and actual transplants that are taking place. Moreover, in the delicate matter of an organ transplant, a perfect match is always required.
“Hence, there is a strong call for the community to step forward and be a part of this cause to save lives.
“We are thankful to GTPJ and hope more individuals and organisations will partner with us in this area,” National Transplant Resource Centre chief officer of media and promotions Azizul Khairi Mohd Nor said.
To be a part of this effort, join the crowd at GTPJ for the much anticipated “Beyond Tears” Easter production and register as an organ donor with the NTRC right after the event.
The play will be staged today and tomorrow at 8.30pm and 5pm respectively at the Glad Tidings PJ, No 6 Jalan 13/4, 46200 Petaling Jaya
