Mayor says failure to complete two major retention ponds caused floods

STERN action will be taken against the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) contractor for failing to complete two major retention ponds as part of the flood mitigation projects undertaken by the DID and DBKL to curb floods in the city.

Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Ahmad Fuad Ismail said the contractor’s delay in completing the Jinjang and Batu retention ponds was one of the main reasons for the March 3 flooding that caused chaos in the city.
