Incentive for first 100 to sign up

STUDENTS wishing to further their studies at AIMST University near Sungai Petani in Kedah should head for the Star Education Fair 2009 at the Penang International Sports Arena this weekend.

The first 100 persons to sign up for the university’s year-long Foundation in Business and Science courses at the fair will receive a 100% tuition fee waiver worth between RM3,750 and RM10,500.

AIMST’s student recruitment division head K. Vigneshwaran said the Foundation in Business course would lead students to take up undergraduate programmes in Information Technology and Business Management while those taking the Science Foundation course could opt to pursue programmes in Medicine, Applied Sciences, Health Sciences, Engineering, IT and Business Management.

“Students with a minimum five credits in their SPM, including English, can apply for our Foundation in Business course.

“But they must have a minimum B4 in all Science and Mathematics subjects for the Foundation in Science course,” he said in an interview.

Vigneshwaran said the university also offered SPM Excellence Performance Awards to students who scored between 5 1As and 11 1As.

“Successful foundation course applicants are eligible for discounts of between 10% and 70% off their tuition fee with this award,” he said.

Vigneshwaran said the university would issue on-the-spot conditional offer letters to successful course applicants at the fair based on their forecast SPM results.

He said AIMST’s nursing diploma course was open to 240 students per intake per year while its physiotherapy diploma course could accommodate a limited 50 students per intake per year based on a first-come-first-served basis.

Entry to the Star Education Fair 2009 is free.
