TEMERLOH: Twenty seven Giat Mara centres will be built under the 10th Malaysia Plan, Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said.
He added that Mara aimed to build the centres in all parliamentary constituencies nationwide.
“We will provide various long and short courses to produce more trained and skilled manpower to satisfy the job market.”
To date, Saifuddin said Mara had trained 198,000 youths through it’s Giat Mara centres which were set up nationwide since 1986 and a large percentage of the graduates are business owners while some worked with government agencies.
Meanwhile, Saifuddin who is the Temerloh MP, said the Education Ministry had cancelled the plan to turn Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seberang Temerloh into a sports school next year.
He said Education Minister Datuk Hishammuddin Tun Hussein had contacted him about the decision which was a relief for parents who wanted the school to continue as a day school. — Bernama.
