WHEN Virgie Florendo came to Malaysia 12 years ago, the 38-year-old Filipina had anticipated feeling homesick for a long time. Fate intervened, however, and Virgie celebrated her first Christmas at Sungai Wang with Kumanan Mariappan, now 34, whom she eventually married.
“We went for a movie. At that time, Anaconda starring Jennifer Lopez, was playing and we went for dinner afterwards,” recalled Virgie of that memorable evening.
