Weaving a fashion spell

FESTIVE shades of gold and red, as well as perennial favourites black and white, dominated the catwalk during the unveiling of Metrojaya’s Christmas Collection 2008.

The department store’s year-end festive theme – The Magic of Christmas – focuses on transforming an ordinary house into a warm and cosy home, or in the case of fashion an ordinary person into a stunning lady or debonair gentleman.

Metrojaya becomes the stage where magic casts its spell offering glamorous and chic ensembles that are fit for any special occasions.

(There is, of course, a range of Christmas tree decorations, trims and baubles for those looking for something to brighten up their homes for the coming festive celebration).

Bold colours: Somerset Bay’s collection showcases styles of opulence in intense shadesof blue, purple, red and black.

Emanuelle’s Christmas collection, themed Christmas Magic, is an easy mix of stylish dressing with clean lines that add a touch of subtle glamour and magic.

Choose from solid black and white pieces to delicate floral print dresses in chiffon to dramatic shimmery dresses enhanced with black lace.

Diane Caroll’s collection conjures images of romance with a sexy edge, with evening dress options that include short tubes, togas, flowy chiffon and pleated jersey.

Romance and feminity are ever present in Carven Ong’s creations.

His Christmas collection is themed Colours of Joy and highlighted in three key colours — red to represent love and warmth, gold for a sense of merry and cheer, and black a person’s elegance.

East India Company’s holiday collection expresses a subtle vintage touch in hues of gold, silver, red, black and smoky grey.

Themed Nostalgic Charms and inspired by the 50’s, the collection’s silhouettes and embellishments feature a mixture of vintage and contemporary shapes.

Somerset Bay’s Cover Story-themed collection showcases styles of opulence in intense shades of blue, purple, red and black.

It is enhanced with the use of dark laces, semi-precious stones and nuances of fabric mixes.

Grace is the title for Laura Ashley’s Autumn/ Winter 2008 Collection, as vintage details take on a fresh direction in this line of classic pieces.

The men have options like Alain Delon, which includes jackets and tuxedo suits to showcase their sense of elegance and quiet refinement, and East India Company for a smart casual feel.

The children are not left out, for they can choose to celebrate the festivities in style while being decked out in pretty outfits from Somerset Bay and East India Company, and smart suits from Domii.

The Christmas Collection 2008 is available at most Metrojaya department stores and MJ Fashion Concept Stores until December.
