Design of new buildings must complement heritage zone


NEW buildings in the heritage core zone should complement the surrounding buildings in their architectural design, said Penang Tourism Development, Culture, Arts and Heritage Committee chairman Danny Law.

He said that although the state could not stop the development of high-rise buildings that had been approved before George Town’s listing as a Unesco World Heritage Site, it could advise developers not to construct buildings that contrasted with the surroundings.
