CROCS Inc added a dash of colour to the Zoo Negara in Hulu Kelang by sponsoring new T-shirts and its iconic Beach shoes for the zoo’s frontline staff.
Crocs Asia Pte Ltd regional sales manager Elenita Flores officially handed over the items to Malaysian Zoological Society chairman and president Datuk Ismail Hutson at a simple ceremony recently.
“As a non-profit organisation that depends on gate collections and sponsorships, we certainly welcome Crocs’ contribution that will help alleviate our financial burden.
“The limited resources that we have can thus be used for the more important task of ensuring the welfare of our animals,” said Ismail.
The bright yellow polo T-shirts embroidered with Zoo Negara’s new stylised logo and imprinted at the back with silhouettes of animals and the ‘Towards a World Class Zoo’ tagline are timely replacements, especially in view of the Visit Zoo Negara Year in 2009.
The customer service, marketing and ticketing staff will also be wearing colourful Crocs Beach shoes with immediate effect.
The popular footwear, with its ‘cheese’-like holes and air vents and striking colours, would certainly be a welcome addition to the wardrobe of the staff, who need to be on their feet all day.
“Crocs named the shoes after crocodiles because they are tough and strong animals,” said Flores.
“The Beach model weighs just 180 grams and has air vents and holes to keep the feet cool and odour-free, especially in hot weather.
“The shoes dry quickly when wet and maintenance is also easy as it can be sterilised in bleach and water,” Flores added.
