New system to check water quality in river

THE Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) spent RM200,000 to install equipment to monitor the water quality in Sungai Dondang in Paya Terubong, Penang, on real-time basis.

Penang DID director Hanapi Mohamad Noor said the department normally used portable equipment to measure water quality but this was the first time in the country that such a monitoring system was fixed at a station, at the Sungai Dondang retention pond.
