THE Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) spent RM200,000 to install equipment to monitor the water quality in Sungai Dondang in Paya Terubong, Penang, on real-time basis.
Penang DID director Hanapi Mohamad Noor said the department normally used portable equipment to measure water quality but this was the first time in the country that such a monitoring system was fixed at a station, at the Sungai Dondang retention pond.
