AN unlicensed massage-cum-sauna centre catering to gays was raided and nine men picked up at a shopping complex in Burma Road, Penang. An anti-vice police team led by Chief Insp Mohd Rozi Aziz raided the well-known gay joint at about 10pm on Saturday and found the men, in their 20s and 30s, in various rooms getting massages. Six of the men were released after their statements were taken while the rest comprising the operator and masseuses were arrested. The premises had been raided at least three times over the past year. OCPD Asst Comm Azam Abd Hamid said the operation codenamed Ops Rose as aimed at curbing immoral activities and “cleaning” up places such as these, adding that there would not be any let-up in their operations. On May 10, a similar premises was raided in Jalan Fettes where 14 men were picked up and more than 1,800 condoms seized. Six naked men were caught in three toilets and used condoms were found littered all over the place.
