Industry loses RM600m after EU curbs

KUCHING: The seafood industry suffered losses of almost RM600mil after the European Union (EU) restricted the import of Malaysian seafood products early this year, said Fisheries Department deputy director-general Suhaili Lee here.

Speaking to reporters, Suhaili said the restriction was due to the country’s seafood industries failing to meet standards set by EU agriculture audit authorities.
