Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said, though the state was looking for other alternatives for power, it would allow SESB to propose other areas for the 300MW coal plant in the east coast.
“As far as the project in Silam is concerned, it is no go. The decision is straightforward. Silam is sited in a very sensitive part of Sabah. After considering all aspects of the proposal, we have to say no,” he told reporters after a dialogue and briefing organised by SESB on clean coal technology and environmental mitigation for non-governmental organisations in Sabah.
